My Review:

Warning, though I try my best to avoid this, all reviews can contain spoilers of some kind. If you would like to know just my overall opinion of the book, and otherwise go into reading it blind, please scroll down to my overall and would I recommend it section.

I Voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

All I want to do after reading this book is decorate my house for Christmas, curl up on the couch with my hubby, and read while sipping some hot tea. If it wasn’t the middle of summer, I would too. This was the first book I have read both from this author, and this publisher and wow what a lovely introduction it was.

Jennifer is big in the food world, we are talking big city TV worthy big, but when you’re serving up the Big Apple’s main dish, the holidays are anything but magical. When Jennifer gets offered a one week Christmas vacation away from the rush, she can’t help but take the offer. Things sure are different in the snow drenched mountains though, and after her car takes an unplanned turn, Jennifer is left wandering the streets missing something very important... her memories. Without so much as a name to her call her own, she finds herself in a very frightening situation. Thankfully a friendly mountain family gives her a place to stay and a temporary name, Maggie.

John is a small town veterinarian, but his real job is saving anything in need. When he comes across a beautiful stray woman wandering around in the middle of the night, he has no choice but bring her home and do whatever he can to help her. Sure he usually works on animals, but an injury is an injury, right? Besides, he wants to show his kids, Kyle, Daisy, and Jamie that the best quality a person can have is a helpful nature. Can his family heal this mysterious woman’s memories as well as his medical knowledge heals her cuts, or will she forever stay the mysterious Maggie?

This has to be one of the most heart warming stories I have ever had the pleasure to dive into. At first, I did not think I would like Jennifer very much. Don’t get me wrong, she is well written from the start, but the soon to be perfectionist star attitude she had wasn’t something I loved on her. However, I adored her once the accident wipes her sad past away taking the persona she uses as a coping mechanism with it. I loved being able to watch the real Jennifer come out through Maggie as she spends time with John and his family. Despite her amnesia, Maggie tries to help and comfort John and his family every time she sees they need it the most.

The turmoil that John and his family goes through is one that a lot of families can relate to. They are all in need of some Christmas cheer, and someone to fill the house with the warmth that makes a home. This was just such an amazing sweet family who all genuinely care. I honestly can’t think of a more loving family. I really like that each member doesn’t pay any attention to what others think of them, doing the best they can for others as well as doing what they love is what’s important to them. Usually, when kids or parents are heavily involved in a romance, they tend to become more secondary characters that either push the couple together or try and pull them apart, but that is not the case with this family. John, his kids, and Maggie/Jennifer are all in this romance together and I loved watching this kind of family love grow between all of them. Seriously, can I just say swoon.

While John is not an alpha male by any means, he is still the white knight kind of guy who likes to be able to take care of both animals and people. He is the kind of man who needs a woman to stand by him, but also one who will run to him. A woman that is more than willing to let him truly help her when she can’t do something on her own is important to him. While she may not know it, finding a man who will let her be herself is very important to Jennifer/Maggie and the way these two are together is just so heart warming.

Throughout the story there are several points that had me falling in love with the characters. All good stories have character growth, but I really liked how in this one Jennifer’s true personality is just allowed to come out through her time being Maggie. The way this family morphs throughout the story put some Christmas hope and love in my summer months, and I’m sure it will add that magical spice to any romance lover’s life too.

As a side note, there is a fantastic recipe at the end of the book. This book lets you feast your eyes on a delicious story and a fantastic meal. Seriously though, it looks so good. Yummy!

Overall:

This is a sweet quick read that’s filled with heart warming moments and special feels. The development and change in the characters is unique in a way that put a smile on my face. Maggie/Jennifer is a well thought out character that really pushes the love and romance level up several notches, while John is a fantastic and caring hero that any woman would love to have.
All this mixed in with the very in-depth way the kids are included in all this love makes for a fantastic story that is not only well worth the read, it is a must try.

Would I Recommend It:

This book gets nothing but a yes from me in the recommendation department. This is a book the whole family can enjoy and will add a warm glow to your spring, summer, fall, or holiday season.

  1. oh I love those Christmas reads and sometimes you just get in the mood for something cheery in the summertime. I haven't read this publisher either, I didn't even know they had books based on the hallmark movies so I am really intrigued.

    Lovely review darling.
